Wham. I had low expectations heading to Sanya, hilariously described as ‘China’s Hawaii’. But I tell you - it’s not bad. We stayed at a stunning resort, and for the first time in 6 months, I dipped the nuts into the ocean - the bathlike South China Sea, to be accurate. The water was clear, hot and pleasant, and Adam and I gleefully bodysurfed 6 inch waves. GOLD.
But how can we complain? Sure, we had a full day of site visiting (usually followed by a full day of work - therefore up at 8am, down at 330am), and I’m now the full bottle on the 5 and 6 star resorts of far southern China. But if you find yourself up this way, I highly recommend a week there on the way home…an unexpected piece of paradise.
We ate like kings, worked like dogs, and had a shitload of laughs. Life in China returns to good times…and with a sidetrip to Hong Kong with Sally next week, I am a damn happy camper.
