Where'd everybody go?*

If my coworkers are anything to go by, Chinese people are SIIIIIICCCCCKKKKK for long lunches. Coming from a culture where you grab a sambo or thai, and eat at your desk (or if it’s a spectacular day, maybe head to the park for 15 minutes), this has been a big adjustment. Come 12:01pm, the office is a ghost town until after 1pm. It’s weird: you look up from your computer, and suddenly, you are it.

But that’s cool - they work much later than I’m used to as well. I’m a firm believer that as long as your work is getting done to the right standards, rigid work hours are a waste of time (pardon the pun).

* Please note. I wanted to call this post ‘Runch Time’, but have so far avoided bolded racism. But there’s a limit to how long I can resist.
