An Australian Creative Director and Strategist fumbles through life New York City.

Oh yeah, i live in China.

As weird as this sounds, I often forget I live in China: as in, I am so used to living here that something amazing will happen, and totally floor me while reminding me that I am a long way from home.

It happened three weeks ago when I went running in Shanghai and discovered a guy selling snakes on the side of the road. Alive, colorful and in bags.

And it happened again on Saturday night when Adam, Harmony and I were in our local supermarket and we found a baby monkey.

April Gourmet is a western supermarket, and not the kind of place you’d expect to see a monkey. But there she was: vest (why are monkey’s always in vests?), soft hands, big eyes, nappy and dummy.

It was a super surreal moment.

And it also led to Harmony taking this photo, which is the best piece of timing ever. If you look at Charlie’s elbow, there is a monkey hand there. Not that it really matters.
