Tesla Motors make themselves easy to write about. Between the wealthy Silicon Valley entrepreneurs who founded the company and the efficiency and power of their first model, they have been in the spotlight since their inception in 2003.
With the introduction of the Model S Tesla, continues to produce exciting headlines. We had a chance to get inside of one of the new Model S’s, and could spend long hours talking about its 0 emissions, 17’ LCD touch screen, 300 miles of charge and inexpensive price point. Yet, Tesla is doing something else that might reshape the automobile landscape.
They are abandoning the more traditional car dealership models and setting up shop in retail locations. The clean looking shops contain hands-on exhibits, interactive touch-screen experiences, and a design center where customers can customize their own Model S. This new type of store offers an interactive experience that is unprecedented in the industry.
“Tesla is reinventing the way people buy cars, with stores designed to engage and inform prospective customers,” said Tesla CEO and Co-Founder, Elon Musk. “Located in high foot-traffic locations, Tesla stores are designed to introduce people to Tesla’s advanced electric car technology and show the benefits of driving electric.”
With stores now open in Bellevue (WA), Chicago (IL), and Newport Beach (CA), look for the Tesla experience is a shopping mall near you.
