Last night, I briefly went outside. It was like walking through a Jack the Ripper novel: a thick, choking fog enveloped everything, cutting visibility to next to nothing and absorbing light. Except that rather than spooky British-murderer-hiding fog, this was Beijing fog, which is basically asbestos haze with lumps of pure cancer floating in it. The crucial number in the attached photo is ‘562’. That’s way fucking high - the highest I’ve ever seen.
