A special kind of lunatic.
It’s midnight. We have a huge pitch tomorrow. We’ve put together one of the best presentations I’ve ever worked on, and we’ve turned it around in 6 days. It’s 128 pages long. It’s stunningly designed, well thought out and a really good piece of work. 6 days. Six 17 hour days. It burns, but this industry does that. A lot of people don’t understand how we do this: work, relentlessly with little to no sleep, fueled by a complex mixture of beer, cigarettes, cheap food and laughter. But it’s amazing - I like my job the best at times like this: late nights, dedicated people punch drunk with exhaustion, all trying to do one thing: the best work possible.
And when you pull it off, it’s the most satisfying feeling in the world.
