A Table That Surprises You.
My ongoing fascination with the world of digital makers continues. Tableau is a refurbished nightstand, updated to feature a web connection, a hidden photo printer and a lightbulb for a drawer handle. Periodically, the table scans Twitter for photos of your life and friends, and randomly prints said photos. Then, the lightbulb turns on and PRESTO - you have mail! From the designer:
Tableau is an refinished heirloom nightstand that stores and retrieves memories using a Twitter account. It acts as a bridge between users of physical and digital media, taking the best parts of both. The nightstand quietly drops photos it sees on its Twitter feed into its drawer, for the owner to discover. Images of things placed in the drawer are posted to its account as well.
This is too damn cool. From here (which also features a ton of other cool projects).
