Word of the Year - Restraint.
Shanghai is NeverNeverLand. You never need to grow up, you can act as if no one knows you, and before you know it, you can find yourself chronically unhealthy, and dangerously boozed. For 2013, I've decided to focus my attention on something I've sorely lacked in the last year: restraint.
For me, this means knowing when to stop a little earlier. When not to drink, or smoke, or eat everything. When to employ better self-discipline. This, in turn, should lead to less heavy headed mornings, less bad decisions, less regret, and a happier and healthier outlook on life - something I've begun the year with in spades.
We all need to return to the real world sooner or later, and I can always visit the debaucherous life I know is lurking in the shadows (it is really fun, after all). But restraint will be the difference between visiting NeverNeverLand, and becoming a full time resident.
